Fowey – the wonderful historic fishing town on the South coast of Cornwall

Rick Stein has had a huge impact on Padstow, Doc Martin has done wonders for the gorgeous fishing town of Port Isaac and the filming of Poldark has been the making of Charlestown then just recently with the introduction of some new and fantastic restaurants, Fowey has become the most talked about town in Cornwall.

For a while we have had some really cool places to eat, drink and hang out – Sam’s Burgers, Steaks & Seafood was the first to arrive and is still very popular then Pintxo tapas and sherry bar arrived followed by Havener’s Bar & Grill.

We can now add Fitzroy to our ‘spoiled for choice’ options – a modern British dining experience using local Cornish produce.

They have become so successful so quickly they are opening another venue in the town, called North Street Kitchen – due to open at the end of March 2020 – watch this space!

The relaxed restaurant was opened in Fore Street last June by business partners David Gingell and Jeremy Cometto, who already run Primeur, Westerns Laundry and Jolene in London.

David grew up in Falmouth and knew that the south coast of Cornwall is often overlooked in favour of the bigger restaurant names on the North coast.

We are very excited for these new independent and unique restaurants – they not only create local jobs but they are a great boost for the local economy too.
