A car is recommended to explore further afield, though walking to Fowey or Looe along the coast path offers a stunning adventure with plenty of restaurants, pubs and shops to discover along the way.

- The very popular town of Fowey is 5 miles/15-minute drive away. It is surrounded by stunning scenery, has a historic beach and a vast selection of restaurants, shops and art galleries.
- Looe is also only 6 miles/20 minute’s drive away. This is another vibrant fishing harbour offering a variety of eateries and shops.
History
- Lansallos has a history deeply connected to smuggling and ancient pathways, with its sheltered cove once used to bring goods inland via steep, winding paths.
- Today, the cove is known as a tranquil and beautiful spot, reached by walking down the same ancient path, called a Holloway, once used by smugglers. It’s an uneven and steep path which was used to bring their contraband inland.
- The area was inhabited by ancient Celtic tribes, such as the Dumnonii, who lived in the region that became Cornwall during the Iron Age and Roman periods.
- The area was influenced by the arrival of Christianity, with Saint Piran playing a role in spreading the faith and related industries like tin smelting.

"Harbourside Cottage was the perfect place for our family holiday. Perfectly located to enjoy Charlestown and a great base for exploring Cornwall. The cottage itself had everything we needed and when we had questions our host was super responsive. Would highly recommend."
